Day 1

DEPART HOME

Overnight flight to Vienna.

Day 2

VIENNA

Welcome to Vienna! After check-in, your Local Expert Guide gives a superb historical account of the Habsburg dynasty during your sightseeing and walking tour of Old Vienna. Visit Schönbrunn Palace, the former imperial 1,441-room Rococo summer residence in modern Vienna, Austria, one of the most important cultural monuments in the country. Admire the Hofburg Palace that has housed some of the most powerful people in European and Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty, rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, currently serving as the official residence of the President of Austria. Former Habsburgs' principal winter residence. See Imperial Boulevards, St. Stephen's Cathedral and ‘Am Hof'. This evening, join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

Day 3

VIENNA - BRATISLAVA - BUDAPEST

Cross the border and arrive in Bratislava or Pozsony in Hungarian and Pressburg in German, the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Before 1919, also known as Prešporok in Slovak. See Bratislava Castle and Blue Church in Old Town. Continue to Budapest, the capital of Hungary on the banks of the romantic Danube River. This evening enjoy delicious traditional Hungarian dinner with music and entertainment.

Day 4

BUDAPEST - HIGH TATRA MOUNTAINS - ZAKOPANE

Admire the stunning views over the Danube River from Fishermen’s Bastion. See Parliament, the Great Synagogue, Andrassy Avenue an iconic boulevard, lined with spectacular neo-renaissance mansions and townhouses, Hero’s Square and the Millenium Underground Railway, the second oldest in the world. Travel north through Slovakia to Poland. Arrive in the resort town of Zakopane nestled in the splendor of the Tatra Mountains region. Take a short excursion through Krupówki Street, the main street of folklore. Tonight enjoy traditional Polish Mountaineers’ dinner with music and entertainment.

Day 5

ZAKOPANE - NIEDZICA - DUNAJEC RIVER RAFT - PIENINY MOUNTAINS - SZCZAWNICA - GORCE MOUNTAINS - KRAKOW (3 NIGHTS)

Go for a funicular ride with extraordinary views over Tatra Mountains. Visit the local market with dozens of shops and souvenir stalls, regional arts and crafts. Drive to Pieniny National Park for Dunajec River rafting with Uplanders’ log-rafts. Enjoy a view of the two beautiful castles of Niedzica and Czorsztyn, before you enter the deep gorge surrounded by white limestone peaks. Continue through Gorce Mountains to the picturesque Royal City of Kraków.

Day 6

KRAKÓW

Kraków, with its a thousand years of municipal history and erstwhile capital of Poland, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The entire medieval layout of the Old City has been preserved. Some buildings, such as St. Adalbert's Church on the Market Square (Rynek Główny) date from Poland's early Middle Ages, the 10th and 11th centuries. Market Square is the biggest medieval square in Europe. Just as in previous centuries, the cultural, commercial, and public life of Kraków is concentrated here. Begin your sightseeing today with morning visit to the world famous Shrine of Divine Mercy of God, Sister Faustina’s sanctuary in Kraków - Łagiewniki. Marvel at the renaissance Royal Castle and the Coronation Cathedral - the seat of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła before he became Pope John Paul II - the burial place of kings and famous Poles on Wawel Hill during tour with your Local Expert Guide. Because it was not destroyed during the World War II, Kraków is a treasure house of architecture and art, having been collected since the 10th century. Visit the Cloth Hall Sukiennice housing a multitude of souvenir shops and the Mariacki Church - St. Mary’s Church with the famous 15th century linden wood altar in the medieval Old Town, visit Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest in Europe during your guided walking tour. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring. Tonight enjoy excellent traditional Polish cuisine in Kraków.

Day 7

KRAKÓW - WIELICZKA SALT MINE - WADOWICE - KALWARIA

Today take an excursion to the unique Wieliczka Salt Mine, UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the famous underground chambers and sculptures are hewn out of rock salt! This 800 year old salt mine is the oldest in Europe. Walk through the underground salt stone world: the splendid St.Kinga’s Chapel with salt sculptures and relics, corridors housing the original constructions and post excavation chambers as well as the subterranean salt lakes. After the tour continue to Wadowice, visit the house where Pope John Paul II was born and the Basilica where he was baptized. Next continue to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, replica of Golgotha, beautiful baroque pilgrimage site dear to Pope John Paul II. Visit the Bernardine Monastery with 44 chapels - UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 8

KRAKÓW - AUSCHWITZ - CZĘSTOCHOWA - WROCŁAW

This morning, uncover recent history when you visit Auschwitz (Oświęcim) concentration camp - a sobering, permanent reminder of the atrocities of World War II, where St Maximilian Kolbe and St Edith died - UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel to Częstochowa and visit the Pauline Monastery at Jasna Góra, Poland’s most famous Shrine to the Virgin Mary. Dating back to the 14th century, this Poland’s greatest place of pilgrimage is home to a miraculous portrait of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, Jasna Góra’s most precious treasure. Arrive in Wrocław. End today’s tour with a stroll around the Market Square where you are bound to be amazed at the beauty of the late gothic City Hall.

Day 9

WROCŁAW - PRAGUE

Today start with your Local Expert Guide visiting the oldest part of the city – Ostrów Tumski with the Cathedral, which is the main landmark of Wrocław. Travel to the Golden city of Prague, renowned for its gleaming spires. Take a leisurely stroll through the cobble stoned old town square in this magnificent metropolis, the political, cultural and economic centre of the Czech state for over 1100 years. Marvel at Prague Castle, the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and the Old Town square. Tonight enjoy traditional Czech dinner with music, entertainment and more!

Day 10

PRAGUE - DRESDEN - BERLIN

Your Local Expert Guide explains the history of Prague during your guided sightseeing tour. Visit the impressive St. Vitus Cathedral, which is set inside the 1,000 year-old Prague Castle. Spend free time exploring or shopping for souvenirs. Depart to Dresden, known as ‘Florence on the Elbe’, a city that has a long history as the capital and royal residence for the Electors and Kings of Saxony, who for centuries furnished the city with cultural and artistic splendor. The city was known as the Jewel Box, because of its baroque and rococo city center. Hear about the restoration of the city during your orientation tour, which includes the Saxon Wall, Semper Opera House, 18th century Cathedral and Zwinger Palace. Travel through the Spreewald Forest to the capital of Germany - Berlin, one of Europe's most exciting cities.

BERLIN
